Make In India

Make in India is a national program designed to facilitate investment. It is an international marketing campaigning launched by PM Narendra Modi on September 25, 2014. The main objective of this program is to generate huge employment by focusing on heavy industries and public enterprises. This campaign indicates that India has also chosen the path of Manufacturing sector to became a middle-income country from a low-income country, like-China, South Korea, U.S.A etc.

Make in India would mainly focus on:-

(1) Bring Foreign Investment:-
By the meetings with Japan, China, U.S.A PM Modi clearly implies that his primary aim is to bring Foreign Investment. The investments committed by Japan, China, U.S.A are $20 bn, $35 bn, $42 bn respectively. If the commitments of these nations are really brought to action it would be a game changer and  would really complete the primary aim of investment.

(2) Cut the red tape & simplify processes:-
It aims to make India a manufacturing hub and economic transformation by eliminating the unnecessary laws like extending the law which only permits below 100 workers to close an industry if it goes bankrupt to 1000 workers. The elimination of these laws would really help the industry to grow faster. Modi's Govt. has already made a bunch of laws to be eliminated in order to cut the red tape. In my opinion the elimination the red tape i.e. elimination of laws would be done after the Elections.  Also, another smart move is by making everything online like the Licenses which really help to simplify the process and also it would cut down corruption and bring transparency.

(3) Generate confidence in local industries:-
The current Global Investors Summit (GIS) clearly implies that the governments are trying hardly to generate confidence in the local industries. Having the confidence of local industries would be must for a successful Make in India Campaign.

Criticisms of Make in India:-

According to a recent research it has been found that the phase in which Countries enabled them to move from Low-income country to middle-income country with the help of manufacturing sector has gone. It reveals that the last country to become middle income with the help of manufacturing sector was China.

Being an Indian hoping that this research proves wrong. Obviously if we know this, than being PM Modi would definitely be aware of this research. And knowing this he is moving the campaign in full flow he might be having the solution.

But at least Modi had the courage to bring this campaign to this massive level. Full marks to you sir.

Best wishes with you!
